History Bits of NCGAD

NCGAD was founded in September 25, 1960 by Emil Ladner, Harry Jacobs, and (Byron) Burnes. Ladner and Jacobs were apparently first officers for this organization..the by-laws was developed. On the same day, there was first golf tournament at Tilden Park golf course in Berkeley. The following year they had 23 golfers for the tournament at Alameda. Frank Smith and Emil Ladner were participants and are still members…In 1963 there was a tournament between Northern and Southern golfers which North won. Same in 1965, 1969, and 1971… 1985 was a big year for NCGAD… On Sept. 21-22, 1985 at Berkeley House motor hotel we had a 25th year anniversary banquet and also had two days tournament at Tilden Park with 31 golfers.. On Nov. 3, 1985, first HOLE-IN-ONE in NCGAD’s history was made by Byron Cantrell at Willow Park Golf course.. In NCGAD’s new point system for golfer of the tournament started in 1987… In 1990 the club grew to 52 members and 10 tournaments a year….
