May 11th Tournament Result/Meeting

Under an unseasonably hot 90-degree sun, 20 players took to the fairways at Dry Creek Ranch in Galt. Despite the heat, the day was perfect for golf, and the players had a blast. They described Dry Creek as a charming, family-operated course—not overly fancy, but incredibly enjoyable for everyone who played. The unique, welcoming atmosphere made it a standout experience for all the participants.

Exciting match games were played at Galt. Mark Bella beat Joey Baer, and Douglas Dreisbach edged out Steve Cardinale in a thrilling 19th hole sudden death. Blaine Heckley’s strong chipping helped him defeat Jose Sermeno. The competition at Dry Creek Ranch Golf Course is certainly heating up.

Last week, Charles Holmes beat Jamie Jackerson by one stroke at a different course.

We are now down to two matches before the final 8 players are set for the next round of match games.

NCGAD meeting:

After the tournament, the NCGAD held a meeting and reached several decisions via member voting, as quorum was met:

  • A $10 prize fee was established, with $8 allocated to prizes and $2 to NCGAD funds.
  • A $5 skins fee was introduced for those who want to participate in Skins.
  • A Prize Committee has been formed, including CH, Nathan, Wayne, and Bob Officer, to decide the prize structure for the upcoming tournament at Napa.
  • NCGAD will no longer match prize fees.
  • Handicaps (HC) will be based on previous NCGAD tournaments, not GHIN.
  • Second Saturday golfing will be allowed, especially on holidays such as July 4th and Labor Day weekend, depending on the calendar year. If this occurs, the golf course should be in the Bay Area to accommodate players going to BAPS.

Announcement:
Joey explained the details of the upcoming AFTC fundraising event in Stockton. It will feature a twosome format instead of a foursome and will use a shotgun start. The cost is $80 per person, which includes golf and lunch. More details will be provided soon.
